Aaaand the winning poem is...#1!!!! Personally, I think that this best describes me and what I'm all about (writing) and I also just like the flow of it. Thanks to all of you who voted and read my poems, your support really means a lot! The poem with the most votes, however, was #6 Anatomy of a Thinker. IDK why you all chose it, 'cause I'm not super fond of it, but I'm glad you guys enjoy my writing. Now let's see if I win! Writing My fingers fly fast over keys
Tiny black ticks marring smooth white surface Buzzing in my ears Incessant hum of fish tank Housing one lonely fish My rabbit tosses her keys I keep on writing The page stretches endless before me A blank canvas, waiting for me to fill My words spill like water On my worn black keyboard My fingers cannot keep up With the rapidity of my brain They cramp and cry I keep on writing I have too much to say Too much to do I don’t have time to write, yet I do My stomach growls My bladder is full But I am rooted to my chair Just one word more I say to myself A word turns to a page A page to ten Until I am utterly exhausted It will all be deleted Revised Edited Cut Rewrote But I look at the page and see Myself in the words These are my thoughts My feelings My pain My body, mind, and soul Are made up of words Too many to get out at once Instead many small intervals Blasting onto the screen And done Empty The well of my mind, dry But soon to fill with new ideas Perpetuating the flow The lifeblood of my soul I keep on writing

I need help deciding which poem to submit to the Dakota County Library Poem contest. Your feedback is greatly appreciated! #1- Writing My fingers fly fast over the keys Tiny black tick marks marring smooth white surface Buzzing in my ears Incessant hum of fish tank Housing one lonely fish My rabbit tosses her keys I keep on writing The page stretches endless before me A blank canvas, waiting for me to fill My words spill like water On my brand new keyboard My fingers cannot keep up With the rapidity of my brain They cramp and cry I keep on writing I have too much to say Too much to do I don’t have time to write, yet I do My stomach growls My bladder is full But I am rooted to my chair Just one word more I say to myself A word turns to a page A page to ten Until I am utterly exhausted It will all be deleted Revised Edited Cut Rewrote But I look at the page and see Myself in the words These are my thoughts My feelings My pain My body, mind, and soul Are made up of words Too many to get out at once Instead many small intervals Blasting onto the screen And done Empty The well of my mind, dry But soon to fill with new ideas Perpetuating the flow I keep on writing #2- The Cat The cat With its regal grace Does nothing speak of royalty? Eyes scrying the future Manipulating Cities fall To their royal bearing Has none denied Their pure blood Borne of lions before them Inherited legacy Dutifully Upheld #3- Envy Me You envy me Because I’m smart Because I’m pretty Because I’m happy Because I’m lucky Because I’m loved Because I’m wanted Because I’m favored Because I’m me Envy me Because I’m anxious Because I’m hurting Because I’m scared Because I’m pushed Because I’m hated Because I’m forced Because I’m falling Envy me now? #4- Sweat The world is a wonder No one can deny With coastlines and bridges Cities up to the sky America is lucky In more ways than one Because most most of us get To see the light of the sun I'm not talking 'bout Alaska, the Arctic, Greenland I'm talking 'bout a place That should surely be banned That place is a sweatshop In Hong Kong, Bangalore China, Indonesia And many, many more We may not realize it But much of our stuff Was made in these places Where life is very rough The pay is quite low About one twenty-five a day For a 15 hour workshift Including overtime pay Parents see children Rarely if at all Instead they must work For a crazy low haul They live in the slums In a 9 by 9 block Of solid concrete Where many have caught Temps of 100, 101 or 2 Disease, sickness fever, Faces turning red, then blue Medicine or food Which one would win? With food you would suffer With medicine you grow thin The wages you're earning Could only buy one Dead from starvation Or dead from the sun? One kitchen, one hole For your waste to go One well per 10 families All of that shows That life in a sweatshop Does not yield reward But there is one thing That is completely absurd We Americans Ignore this everyday thing Only because it has no effect On us or our kin Nike, Adidas Way more- you'd be surprised Outsource their products For a much larger prize These humans are treated Like livestock from birth Bred to produce With no human worth On the surface, we're pretty But looks are only skin deep Break the ice and the real truth Will make you want to weep “We have nothing to hide,” Says the Swoosh, deceptively “We care for our workers And treat them fairly” But the lies are exposed They are coming to light Only your help can stop The age old sweatshop blight So next time at your closet The store or the mall Think about the origin You will be appalled Because our beautiful world is ugly And that's the truest truth of them all #5- Old White Men Old white men In charge and in power Look at me, I have the highest tower Old white men Money oriented souls Anything to get a good score on polls Old white men Everyone else is to blame Politics is just a game Old white men Women are only for sex At government we’re the best Old white men Don’t worry, we’ve got your back The shooting was an unavoidable attack Old white men Money and politics are nice I’ve been elected, what now, thrice? Old white men Wrinkles and gray hair A committed noncommittal air Old white men Your power’s come and gone Old white men They’ve been in power much too long #6- Anatomy of a Thinker Feet Walking, running, driving To the library Lifeblood of your soul Legs Long and lanky like the words That come from your lips Hips Round like the 3-dimensional thoughts that you create Intangibly tangible like spheres Soul Young and old, shy and bold Your heart in everything Arms Grabbing at stray thoughts like clouds Sometimes you touch and sometimes you fall Hands Golden touch of life Revitalizing all Head Wondrous mind Ever whirring me to sleep Gears cranking day and night Working out the problems of our life You are more than just your body More than just a pretty face You are my partner, my lover, my girl My thinking ace #7- The Hunt Sitting regal Paws tucked under Tail curled delicately Eyes half narrowed Ears forward Relaxed and alert Watching Waiting Eyes narrow Muscles tense Legs crouch Mouth opens Nose twitches Nostrils flare Paws creep Tail twitches Cat tenses Cat leaps Mouse squeaks Cat seeks Human owner Presented mouse Human throws Out of house Please vote! This was done as an assignment for school, and yes, the lines are a bit sloppy, but hey, it turned out great in the end. It was weird drawing so many characters n one piece, especially Fabao (far right), who thus far has only existed in my mind. Unfortunately, I still have not drawn Carter yet~I have no idea why, but he just slips my mind. Maybe once I choose a scene from SW to draw I'll do one with him in it. Poor guy :'( Anyway, enjoy. Multiply mode was actually working this time. So was my skin tone coloration (for the most part).
